Fundraising Success for a Defibrillator

Patient Advisory Group Fundraising Success

Posted: 18 June 2021 · Practice news

Following the recent interest in the provision of Defibrillators, our Patient Advisory Group is delighted to announce that the group has received funding from Seagreen Micro Grants (£500) and another charitable trust which wishes to remain anonymous (£1,000) for support with the purchase of an External Automatic Defibrillator.

The machine will be installed as soon as possible at a location in the town.

There is still a shortfall of £400. However, the group plan to have a fund raising coffee morning later in the year and hope everyone will support them at that time.

Would you like to join Monifieth Medical Practice Patient Advisory Group?

The Group are seeking more members to help achieve their aims.

The role of the Patient Advisory Group is to represent the patient population in the Practice. The Group acts as a channel of communication between the Practice and its registered patients. It provides patients with a voice in the organisation of their care by promoting the patients’ perspective and also provides feedback on patients’ needs, concerns and interests. It challenges the Practice constructively whenever necessary. The Group will not deal with complaints or personal issues. These should be directed to the Practice Manager at the Medical Practice.

The Group is open to patients of the Practice aged 16 years and above. The Patient Advisory Group meets every 2/3 months. Presently meetings are held online and this will continue for the foreseeable future. Members are required to have access to a computer or iPad for the Group meetings, papers and reports. The meetings usually last between 1 to 2 hours, depending on the Agenda.

If you would like to help the Practice, Community and yourselves as patients we would be delighted to see you. The group is at present setting up an NHS Weight Loss Group and a Menopause Support Group both to commence post COVID. In addition the group is researching Heart Start training and provision of a defibrillator for use 24/7 in the town.

We very highly value the benefits of having different experiences and points of view. At the moment the Group is largely made up of women but we would particularly welcome applications from people that are currently under-represented on the Group, such as men, wheelchair users and young adults.
